Tracing Curfman History From Germany to Pennsylvania

Welcome to the Curfman Family History blog, a journey into the legacy of emigrant Johann Conrad (Curfman) Korffmann, who embarked on a voyage from Germany to Pennsylvania aboard the ship Prince of Wales in 1764. Delve into the rich tapestry of our family's past as we explore the roots of the early Curfmans in Germany, unraveling the reasons behind their migration to America and tracing the establishment of a robust family history in the state of Pennsylvania.

This blog is dedicated to tracking the lineage connected to Conrad, spanning the 14th century to the story of Walter Leo Curfman (1905-1988) and his children. This blog is not an exhaustive list of all Curfman descendants in America or Europe. In addition to the Korffmann/Curfman lineage, this blog also provides some details on the families of their wives, including: the Lufft, Reiss, Cutshall, Chilcote, Walls, Rupert, Snare/Schneer, Wright, Greene and Scheffer families.

Drawing on meticulous research, this blog synthesizes information from a wide variety of sources, including Robert Joseph Curfman’s 1971 book, "The Curfman-Kurfman-Corfman-Korffmann Genealogy," Ruth Curfman’s research and website, my own personal research and interviews, family stories told by brothers Walter Lee Curfman and Fred Curfman, and historic family photos preserved by Walter Leo, wife Grace, and their children and in-laws. As a seventh-generation descendant of Conrad, and entrusted with significant family artifacts, photographs, and stories, we are dedicated to preserving and sharing this historical treasure with our relatives and fellow researchers. Join us on this exploration of our shared heritage.
